Plymouth Sound National Marine Park Party Saturday 14 September
There's a party on Plymouth Hoe on Saturday 14 September and everyone is invited!
The event, which takes place from 10am to 2pm, is to celebrate partners coming together to create the UK's first National Marine Park.
There will be free swimming sessions at Tinside Lido on a first come, first served basis, bouncy castle, facepainting, some fantastic interactive activities including the chance to see our new 360 degree filming of Plymouth Sound via virtual reality headsets, and live music throughout the day including samba, Joey and the Lips and the Sound Choir. The new film will also be shown on a big screen at the event.
Leisure operator Everyone Active has also worked with Plymouth City Council to extend the opening season of Tinside Lido by a week, keeping it available for the event. It will be offering free swimming sessions from 10am – 1pm and 2pm – 5pm. It will be first come first served.
The event will also see the culmination of the fantastic series of 'Sea In The Park' events with the Marine Biological Association (MBA) and Blue Marine Foundation, which aim to teach local children and families about the estimated 1,000 species that live in Plymouth Sound.
There will also be stalls from National Marine Aquarium, Mount Batten Watersports Activity Centre, Earth Jump, Street Factory, Marine Biological Association, South West Water, Keith Hiscock with Plymouth Sound Diving Club, Devon Chamber of Commerce, Natural Infrastructure Team, Environment Plymouth, VisitPlymouth, Island Trust, among many others.
Guest of honour at the event will be Plymouth-born Lewis Pugh, UN Patron of the Oceans and endurance swimmer.
