Bookings being taken for bulky waste

Residents are now able to book a bulky waste collection through the Council website.

As announced earlier this year, the service, which was suspended in 2020 to allow for prioritisation of domestic collections, is set to resume this autumn.

With the online booking portal now open, residents can choose a slot between Monday and Thursday from Tuesday 19 October.

While the service has been away, the use of the service has been assessed and a few subtle changes have been made to the pricing and booking system.

Previously, residents were charged £20 for the collection of up to three items, and £40 for the collection of up to six items.

Now, residents will be able to dispose of four items for £25 and then £10 per item thereafter.

In addition, where collections used to be free of charge for recipients of Council Tax, Housing, Income Support or Pension Credit benefits, a 50 per cent discount will apply for Council Tax support recipients only.

These changes not only reflects residents' use of the service in previous years, but following an extensive benchmarking exercise, ensures that the cost of bulky waste collection in Plymouth remains below that of other local authorities.
