Council Tax direct debit payers now receiving £150 energy rebate

We are now paying the £150 energy rebate to eligible households who pay their Council Tax by direct debit.

The majority of households who pay by direct debit should receive the Government payment in their bank account this week.

Advice to those who pay their Council Tax by Direct Debit but have not yet received their rebate:

If you pay by direct debit and the name on the Council Tax account is not the same as the name on the bank details we hold, you will not automatically receive the payment. You will need to apply through the online application form. This approach is in line with Government guidance.

We are working hard to issue the on-line application form and the accompanying process by the end of May.

We will publicising how to apply nearer the time, once the arrangements have been completed.

Advice to those who do not pay by Direct Debit:

If you pay your Council Tax by other methods you will need to complete the online application form when it is available.

We are working hard to issue the on-line application form and the accompanying process by the end of May. We will publicising how to apply once the arrangements have been completed.

The Government’s deadline for paying the £150 energy rebate to households in Council Tax bands A to D is September. Like many other councils, we are doing everything we can to make the payments as soon as possible – and well before the September deadline.

We appreciate your patience as we work as quickly as possible to put the systems in place to make these payments.
