The Box

Ready, set, go! Ticket bookings for The Box go live

The build up to the opening of The Box is in the home straight with ticket bookings due to go live at 10am this Thursday (10 September).

The city’s new museum, gallery and archive opens on 29 September with amazing permanent galleries filled with highlights from Plymouth’s art, human history, natural history, film, photographic and archive collections.

Major commissions by five international contemporary artists, research and learning spaces, a new shop and a Kitchen & Bar are some of the other main highlights.

Put your COVID-19 stories in the Memory Box

COVID-19 has had a big impact on our daily lives. The Box wants to capture your memories of coronavirus to create a record for future generations to understand how and why our lives changed in 2020.

It wants to hear the experiences and voices of Plymouth residents and workers of all ages. These could come in may forms, including diary entries, video blogs, videos, poems, songs or creative writing pieces.

The Box to mark original opening weekend with special digital programme

The Box will spend this weekend sharing a series of insights across its digital platforms to mark its original opening date.

The city’s major new museum, gallery and archive was set to open to the public on Saturday 16 May, but was forced to sadly postpone its launch due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

The venue was only two months away from opening when the lockdown came into effect. Staff have been continuing to work hard on the project remotely over the last few weeks however, and are keen to put a positive spin on the occasion.
