New business grant announced for small businesses impacted by COVID-19

Small businesses in Plymouth can apply for a new Government Discretionary Grant from Monday 1 June.

The scheme, administered by Plymouth City Council, will help small businesses with less than 50 employees that have not been eligible for other grant funding (with the exception of the furloughed Job Retention Scheme and the Self Employment Income Support Scheme) and who were trading on 11 March 2020.

Statement about positive test for coronavirus (COVID-19) in Plymouth

Plymouth City Council can confirm that a Plymouth resident has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). Public Health England is following up the case according to national guidance and protocol.

Dr Ruth Harrell, Director of Public Health for Plymouth, said: “As indicated by the move to the Delay phase announced yesterday, we expect to see an increase in cases across the country, and that includes Plymouth. I’d like to reassure people that the City Council is working with partners following national guidance to limit the spread and impact of this virus.”
