Submit a building regulations application

Before you make a building regulation application check if you need building regulation permission as there are a wide range of developments that don't require permission.

Full plans application

Use a full plans application for major domestic works or if you're doing work to a commercial building (for example schools, shops, offices, factories and hotels).

Building notice notification

Use a building notice notification for minor domestic works such as alterations and extensions. This process doesn't involve the approving or rejecting of plans.

Regularisation certificate

Use a regularisation certificate if you've already completed work where you should've submitted an application.

Our charges are set on a cost recovery basis and there are standard charges which cover most types of building work. Charges are payable for all types of applications unless your work provides disabled new facilities.

For proposals exceeding three units contact us for an individual charge. Discounts may be available for repeated house types.

We can also provide a variety of additional services including SAPs, EPCs, air leakage testing, sound testing and water use calculations.

If the estimated cost of the work exceeds £100,000 contact the charges team for an individual charge. The estimated cost of work is that which would be charged by a professional person to carry out the work.

  

The above are standard charges, but may be negotiable depending on the complexity of your project and the inspection.

Building work for a disabled person

Building work carried out solely for the benefit of a disabled person is exempt from building regulations charges. If you're claiming an exemption from charges on behalf of a disabled person please complete the declaration below:
