Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement sets out the standards adopted by us for engaging communities and key stakeholders. Its aim is to achieve greater public involvement in decision-making.

Where we are

The latest version of the Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) was adopted by Full Council in April 2009. This now forms part of the Local Strategic Partnership Compact Code of Practice:

This applies to everyone who runs or takes part in community involvement in the city.

Previous documents

The first Statement of Community Involvement was formally adopted on 24 July 2006 by Full Council, following its submission to the Secretary of State on 28 February 2006:

An independent Inspector was appointed by the Secretary of State to examine the 'Soundness' of the submitted Statement of Community Involvement. The Inspector reported back to the Council on 5 July 2006 setting out binding changes to be made to the submitted Statement of Community Involvement.
