The Plymouth Good Neighbours Scheme

Welcome to the Plymouth Good Neighbours Scheme.

On this page you can find a number of different options for volunteering so that you can offer your support to others.

The Plymouth Good Neighbours Scheme was originally set up to support the mobilisation of Plymouth’s voluntary, community and social enterprise sectors, empowering residents, businesses and wider stakeholders to play a key role in safeguarding those most at risk during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The scheme continues to provide a central hub for many voluntary groups across the city whose work is supported by the kindness and generosity of local people volunteering their time.

The Plymouth Good Neighbours Scheme has now developed and we are looking to recruit volunteers into the following roles:

Support Volunteer

Support Volunteers help those vulnerable Plymouth residents who, due to age, illness or disability, cannot get out to their local shops themselves for food, prescriptions and day to day basics, and who do not have someone to help them.

A formalised version of a true Plymouth good neighbour. The role involves calling at the front door of the same person on a weekly basis to pick up their shopping list (food, prescriptions and day to day essentials from local shops), do their shopping and take it back to them.

Further details available in the role profile which you can view here - Role profile
