Sports Development Unit case study

Thirteen organisations pledged to work with the Sports Development Unit; seven went forward within 12 months. They engaged an additional eight organisations throughout the year.

As a result of their involvement in Thrive Plymouth the Sports Development Unit began:

  • Workplace Challenge – We are working in partnership with Active Devon to promote this national programme funded by Sport England which aims to engage workplaces in sport and physical activity.
  • Plymouth Games – These sporting events were ran over two weeks during July, we now run them once a month to better align with the Workplace Challenge.
  • Ping! Plymouth – We are promoting table tennis as accessible activities and have provided several businesses with tables or instant Ping! sets. We are also promoting England Table Tennis’s Loop@work package.

“We now have an identified member of staff delivering an Active Workplaces programme. They will link with the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, Livewell@Work and others to ensure that our delivery compliments and adds value to the offer for businesses.”
