Street lights

We have around 30,000 street lights and over 5,000 lit signs in Plymouth. If you spot a problem with a street light let us know and we'll fix it.

Replacing our street lights

We're replacing all of our street lights with LED lights to save energy and improve safety.

Our street lights cost around £2 million a year to run. We're spending £8 million to replace the lights (and a small number of old lamp posts) which should save us 70 per cent in running costs and carbon emissions. The new lights should also last longer and cost less to look after.

The lights will give out a moonlight white light making it easier to see, which should improve safety. They'll also shine more light down onto the street and less into nearby houses.
