Late applications and late changes of preference
Once the closing date has passed, you won't be able to use the online portal so you'll need to submit a Firm Step form instead available on the individual web pages.
Forms received after 15 January 2023 but before 3 March 2023
Preference forms after Saturday 15 January 2022 but before Friday 4 March 2023 will be considered as late applications unless there's a valid reason for the application being late such as a change of address. If accepted, they'll be considered in the first allocation round on Monday 17 April 2023. If there's no valid reason for a late application, the application will be considered in the second allocation round.
Forms received on or after 4 March 2023
Forms received on or after Sunday 4 March 2023 are treated as late applications.
The allocation process starts on Monday 5 March 2023 which means that an application received on or after this date will, in all probability be considered in the second allocation round as it will be too late to include the application in the first round.
Many schools will be filled in the first allocation round. If the school has already been filled, your child will be added to the waiting list for that school. If the school isn't filled, your child will be allocated a place in the second allocation round.

Grammar schools select pupils by proven ability in the 11-plus examination. There's a separate registration for the 11-plus which closes on Wednesday 31 August 2022.
Results of the 11-plus examination will be sent out on Friday 14 October 2022 for both boys and for girls. Only candidates who have registered and sat the 11-plus examination at the required time and who have submitted an application for a school place by Monday 31 October 2022 will be included in the first allocation round notified on Wednesday 1 March 2023.
