We support children and young people aged four to 19 years with language and communication needs.
We can provide:
- advice, support and training to your child's school
- assessment of your child's needs within their school setting
- strategies and resources
- support to help your child's school cater for your child needs
- support with transition from nursery to foundation as well as from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3
We can't provide support if your child's:
- speech (clarity/articulation) is the main concern
- receptive and expressive language skills are within average ranges, as identified by a speech and language therapist
- language needs are in line with their learning needs, as identified by an educational psychologist (advice can be sought from SEND Strategic Advice and Support)
- primary needs are literacy (advice can be sought from SEND Strategic Advice and Support)
How to request support
Book a conversation with a Family Support Worker through the Early Help and SEND advice line.
We might not accept your request if there's insufficient evidence of your child's language needs.
