Service of Commemoration and National Moment of Reflection

Residents are being invited to a special commemorative service in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at St Andrew’s Church on Sunday 18 September at 3pm.

The service will be led by the Reverend Joe Dent. The Bishop of Plymouth Designate, the Reverend Prebendary James Grier, will be giving the address.

It will be an opportunity to reflect on the life and legacy of the Queen and gather together as a community at this watershed moment for our nation. It will include prayers, readings and songs led by the St Andrew’s Choir.

The service will be attended by the Lord Mayor of Plymouth, Councillor Sue Dann; the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Devon, Civic leaders and representatives from the armed forces, as well as organisations from across Plymouth.

The service is open to members of the public on a first-come-first-served basis. St Andrew’s Church also hopes to live stream it for those who are unable to attend.

The Council will also be respecting the National Moment of Reflection at 8pm on Sunday when a one-minute silence will be observed outside St Andrews Church. Residents who would like to attend are more than welcome.
