Social led walks

Walking is a fantastic way to keep active and maintain a healthy heart as it is fun, flexible and free. Some benefits of walking include;   

  • Improve performance of the heart, lungs and circulation
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Reduce the risk of coronary heart disease and strokes, Type 2 diabetes and certain cancers
  • Improve mood, reduce anxiety, aid sleep and improve self-image
  • Improves wellbeing and helps fight stress and depression
  • Walking in a group is a sociable activity that can help improve mental health and overcome feelings of isolation
  • Spending time in the outdoors and in contact with the natural environment can have a positive effect on your mood.

Walking for health

As well as these walks our partners at Livewell Southwest have regular walks with a group called Walk and Talk Plymouth. These walks are a great way to socialise and meet new friends.

Workplace led walks

As walking is environmentally friendly, going for a walk during lunchtime may encourage staff to start walking to/from work and walking more often during their leisure time. Workplace walk leader training

Plymotion are on hand to help and support led walks in the workplace through Walk Leader training for employees, who may wish to learn new skills such as route planning and hazard awareness. This would then provide you with the tools to lead a walk at your workplace with the chance to get outdoors and socialise whilst being active.
