Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre
Access to all beaches around the Mount Batten peninsula is currently closed for health and safety reasons, following the discovery of asbestos containing materials on Mount Batten beach.
Asbestos is an issue if the fibres become airborne, and so, as a precaution, we want to prevent people from accessing areas of dry sand. People who take part in watersports are still able to access the sea via the slipways and pontoon
We will be assessing the situation in full during the next week and will be able to update shortly.
Plymouth City Council apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but we must emphasise that the health and safety of our residents is our top priority.
The Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre in Plymouth is one of the foremost outdoor education centres in the South West. They are located close to the Plymouth Sound and offer multi-activity courses, family fun days, RYA Instructor courses and corporate team building events
We're working with the Mount Batten Centre Charity Trust, who operate and manage the facilities, to promote activities and support participation.
