We run a variety of different running groups to cater for all abilities, from complete beginners to people wanting to run a half-marathon. Most of our sessions are aimed at people who have either run in the past and want to make a 'running come back' or complete beginners looking for a new activity to help them get fit.
Our beginner sessions combine walking with running and are designed around an initial 10-week training programme, which also includes advice on safety, clothing and footwear, warming up and warming down, and stretching.
You'll need to become a RunTogether member (which is free) and complete a simple consent/registration form before taking part.
Visit our get active with us page to see running groups are taking place near you. Costs of sessions vary, the majority are free, but some cost £2 per session. Booking isn't essential, you can just turn up, but we do advise you to turn up 10 minutes early to your first session to introduce yourself to the running leader and to complete any necessary paperwork.
Become a running leader
We rely on volunteers and we're always looking for new leaders. You don't need experience in running to become a running leader, just a passion in helping others succeed. If you want to become a running leader you'll need to attend a one day course, which consists of a classroom and practical session (but no formal assessment).
