The Story Detectives to visit Central Library

The Story detectives

Dance, reading and detective skills come together in a free family-friendly event at Plymouth Central Library next month.

Following 42 performances, The Story Detectives, the latest project from award-winning dance company Made by Katie Green, completes its UK tour at Plymouth Central Library on Saturday 8 July, with performances and free 30 minute dance workshops starting from 11am to 2pm.

The Story Detectives takes children and their families on an imaginative journey through the library to discover different kinds of books, from a detective book to an adventure book, a dictionary to a fairy tale, led by two characters Playful and Particular.

During the performance the audience are invited to help Playful and Particular solve clues, look for letters and learn a movement ‘code’ that will help them on their journey throughout the piece.

Ahead of the performances, an activity pack has been installed at the Plymouth Central Library giving children the chance to get a sneak peek into The Story Detectives and to create their own story by following a trail around the library.

Councillor Sally Haydon, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, Libraries, Cemeteries and Crematoria, said: “This is amazing news that the Story Detectives are ending their exciting UK Tour at our Central Library.

“I am sure that children from all over the city will be thrilled to take part in this experience, and families who are looking to get involved in something creative this summer.”
