dog control

Having your dog off the lead in a dogs on lead zone can cost you a lot of money, as one Plymouth woman found out at Plymouth Magistrates Court on Thursday 9 September.

Residents and businesses are being asked for their say on the review of a Public Space Protection Order designed to reduce dog fouling.

The Council is proposing some changes which include ensuring that dog owners have a means to pick up after their dog as well as extending the dogs on lead zone in Central Park. A change to dog controls on sports pitches is also in the plans.

Environmental enforcement officers are returning to the city’s streets in a bid to curb a recent increase in dog fouling.

Since social distancing measures were introduced, the Council has seen a rise in reported cases of owners failing to pick up after their pooches.
