We are looking for volunteers for Plymouth’s new crematorium in Plympton on Merafield Road. As part of the role, you’ll be an integral part of our pre-launch, launch and ongoing volunteering operations at Plymouth Crematoria for the first few weeks of it's opening.
By volunteering you will help visitors feel welcome and more at ease finding their way around the crematorium.
What a volunteer might do
Typical tasks might include:
- assisting with customers finding their way around The Park
- direct visitors to the correct car park and relevant ceremony room
- helping direct visitors who arrive on foot and in vehicles
Who would suit this role
No formal qualifications are needed but you’ll need to:
- be aged 18 or over
- be customer service
- A good level of fitness and ability to undertake the necessary tasks.
- Display a respectful manner to those who may be mourning and follow protocol when cremation services are taking place.
- Be warm and friendly to members of the public who wish to engage in conversation.
- Be reliable, dependable, honest, trustworthy, and courteous.
- Be non-discriminatory and respectful of others.
- Able to commit to the required days and times.
- Wearing the correct dress code.
Training and support
An induction and training will be given at the start of your role including a site walk.
You will have a clear point of contact for all aspects of your volunteering including for any
feedback, suggestions, or concerns.
Reasonable travel expenses can be reclaimed.
You are of course free to stop volunteering at any time.
