There are various public and community transport options in Plymouth that help you to stay connected to facilities and services - and most importantly people! Don’t forget walking and cycling for short journeys is a really good way of keep mobile and active.
Buses
Plymouth City Bus: Each day over 150 buses operate along 90 different routes in the city. Buses are accessible to wheelchair users and some Class 2 scooters. Free Help-Me cards support passengers who are hard of hearing, have difficulty speaking or are visually impaired
Concessionary Bus Pass: Bus pass for free travel when you reach female State Pension Age (for men and women) and if you have certain disabilities. Enhanced bus passes also available for those aged 80 and over or those registered blind.
Blue Badge scheme
Plymouth City Council operates the blue badge scheme that helps people who have a disability to park nearer their destination.
Community Transport
Access Plymouth Dial-A-Ride: Door to door transport for elderly and disabled residents who are eligible for a concessionary bus pass but find it difficult to use public transport. Must be booked in advance and all journeys are costed at mileage rate.
Access Plymouth Community Car: Car sharing scheme with volunteer drivers providing journeys. Journeys must be booked and are charged at £1.20 a mile.
Shopmobility: Scheme renting out scooters and wheelchairs to use around Plymouth city centre. Fees and registration required.
Connect Plymouth Electric Car Club: A fleet of new electric MGs that you can rent by the hour, providing a comfortable and greener way to travel. Provided by Co Wheels CIC.
Beryl E-bike hire: Electric bikes available at park bays across the city - perfect for commuting, leisurely rides and tackling the hills of Plymouth
Plymotion
Adult cycling: Cycling is a great form of active travel and accessible to people of all ages. Plymotion offers free group and individual cycle training sessions and bike maintenance courses.
