Initatives
Plan for Homes 4 will meet the Council’s housing aims through ten high level strategic initiatives.
Under these initiatives, a wide range of specific projects will form a separate detailed delivery plan.
1. Increase and accelerate the delivery of new homes
2. Reduce homelessness and its impacts
3. Improve the condition and energy efficiency of the existing housing stock
4. Maximise inward investment in new and affordable housing
5. To meet specialist and supported priority housing needs
6. Provide increased housing choices in the City Centre
7. Deliver more low carbon and net zero carbon new build homes
8. Support the delivery of estate regeneration priorities
9. To drive a high quality private rented sector and tackle bad landlords
10. Ensure we have effective partnerships to deliver this plan
Plymouth is not immune to the effects of the national housing crisis with unprecedented levels of people in need of affordable housing and presenting to the Council as homeless. Whilst the Plan for Homes has been a huge success up to now, between the Council and its partners, we can and we must do more. I urge you to join us in this crucial task, and help make Plymouth a city where everyone can have access to the housing they need.
Councillor Chris Penberthy Cabinet Member for Housing, Co-operative Development and Communities
