Council Leader sends message of support to Nottingham

Plymouth City Council Leader Tudor Evans OBE has sent a message to the leader of Nottingham City Council expressing sympathy and support for the people of Nottingham following the terrible events in the city on Tuesday.

In a letter to Councillor David Mellen, Leader of Nottingham City Council, Councillor Evans said:

”I am writing on behalf of Plymouth City Council to express our deep sympathy for the people of Nottingham at this awful time. We send all the families and friends of those affected by this terrible event our sincere and heartfelt condolences, and our thoughts are also with you as you attempt to support your communities who have witnessed the stuff of nightmares.

Our own experience in Plymouth following the shootings in Keyham in 2021 is that you will also witness the best of community resilience and public service in Nottingham in response to these dreadful events.

We can only imagine the pain and sadness felt across the City and amongst the people of Nottingham and the people affected by this atrocious event. Our best wishes are with you.

If there is anything we can do to help in whatever capacity please do let me know.”
