Electric vehicle charge points will be popping up at business premises all over Plymouth, thanks to grant funding won by Plymouth City Council.
We've got £100,000 of grant funding to be shared between eight organisations to deliver 51 new electric vehicle charge points.
The successful organisations are Plymouth University, Derriford Hospital and Plymouth Science Park, Plymouth Marine Lab, Marjon University, The Pig, Drew & Co and Pepper Communications.
The funding will help to increase the number of electric vehicle fleets and to support employees who want move towards greener transport.
Installing electric charge points will help companies to reduce running costs from fuel and maintenance, cut pollution, improve air quality and enable participation in new and innovative technology.
As well as the eight organisations, charge points will be installed on the Barbican Landing Stage in preparation for electric boats to help reduce marine emissions.
The Council declared a climate emergency earlier this year. Councillor Sue Dann, Cabinet Member for Environment said: “We are making changes to help the city tackle climate change and encouraging low carbon options for how people get to and from work is part of this.

We secured £7.6 million from the Transforming Cities Fund bid earlier this year and is currently preparing a further submission to the fund for more innovative and transformational transport projects including further EV charging infrastructure proposals for the city.
A Climate Action Plan is being unveiled at next month’s full Council meeting. Councillor Sue Dann added: “We all need to look afresh at changes we can make to our daily lives to help reduce the impact we have on the environment.
“As a council we need to lead the charge and make it as easy as possible for our residents and our businesses to do their bit.”
