The Met Office has issued an amber wind warning for Devon and Cornwall from 1am to 9pm tomorrow (Saturday).
Storm Darragh is expected to bring strong winds as it hits the South West and other parts of the country, with potential to cause damage to infrastructure and travel disruption.
People are being advised to prepare for any journeys, check bus and train timetables and amend their travel plans if necessary. Drivers should check road conditions before setting out and ensure they have essentials in their car. See the Met Office website for further advice on travelling safely in stormy weather.
People are warned to expect flying debris, as well as large waves and beach material being thrown onto seafronts, coastal roads and properties. Mount Batten Pier has been closed to the public and people are advised to take care near the waterfront and not ‘wave watch’.
Damage to buildings and homes is possible and there is a risk of falling trees and power lines being brought down. People are advised to avoid wooded areas and woodland.

Power cuts could occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.
