Updated emergency plan for Cattedown fuel terminals

Plymouth City Council has updated its emergency plan for the Valero and Greenergy fuel terminals in Cattedown.

The Plymouth Upper Tier COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) sites External Emergency Plan outlines how the Council, emergency services and other responding agencies would work with the operators to protect the public in the unlikely event of a major accident at either of the sites, which store and distribute petroleum products.

Both sites are regulated and overseen by the Health and Safety Executive and the Environment Agency and exercises are held regularly by the agencies that would be involved in an emergency response, to test the plans in place.

The external emergency plan has just been updated to reflect recommendations from an exercise that took place late last year.

The revised plan will be published next week on the Council’s website at www.plymouth.gov.uk/emergencies, where you can also view a public information leaflet and sign up for the Council’s free emergency notification alerts.
