The Abercrombie awards are returning this year, with residents able to vote for their favourite new building or project in Plymouth.

The Abercrombie Awards are hosted by the Council every three years to celebrate the role of groups, architects, designers and building companies in shaping the city.

Named after the architect responsible for the plan to rebuild Plymouth after the Blitz, the awards take a look at a huge range of work from small conversions and projects to transform open spaces to multi-million pound housing or business projects.
Returning to this year’s event is the People of Plymouth Award category which will give residents the opportunity to vote on their favourite scheme or project.

Previous winners of the award have included Stiltskin's Soapbox Children's Theatre and Devonport Guildhall.

Councillor Patrick Nicholson, Deputy Leader of Plymouth City Council, said: "The Abercrombie Awards are a great chance to reflect on the positive impact that great planning and design has on our city.

"I'm very much looking forward to sifting through the nominations for the People of Plymouth Award and seeing which projects have particularly gone down well with residents."

Nominations for all categories are being accepted until 6pm on Friday 24 September so get your vote in soon.
