The Met Office has issued yellow warnings of wind and rain for the South West today and tomorrow as Storm Éowyn hits the UK.
There is a wind warning in place until 5pm today, followed by another all day tomorrow. There is also a rain warning from midnight tonight until 9am tomorrow.
Storm Éowyn is expected to bring very strong winds, with potential to cause damage to buildings and disruption to travel as well as other services, such as power and mobile phone coverage.
People are warned to expect flying debris, as well as large waves and beach material being thrown onto seafronts, coastal roads and properties. Mount Batten Pier has been closed to the public and people are asked to take care near the waterfront and not ‘wave watch’.
There is a risk of falling trees and power lines being brought down and people are advised to avoid wooded areas and woodland
Please prepare for any journeys, check bus and train timetables and amend your travel plans if necessary. Drivers should check road conditions before setting out and ensure they have essentials in their car. See the Met Office website for further advice on travelling safely in stormy weather.

Residents are asked to bring their wheelie bins onto their property and secure them wherever possible.
