Bins

Plymouth's new administration has wasted little time in making a range of changes designed to make disposing of waste easier for residents.

New Council Leader Nick Kelly was chairing the first meeting of his new cabinet on Tuesday when he announced that the garden waste period would be extended, charges for non-household waste at Chelson Meadow will be scrapped and the delivery of new bins will now be free of charge.

As some residents will know, for the past few weeks we’ve been running a little bit behind on some of our waste collections rounds.

We are experiencing a few operational issues which have combined to mean that not all routes have been fully completed.

We are planning to restart our garden waste collections by Monday 24 August – sooner if possible.

The service would normally have started up in April but had to be paused due to COVID-19 restrictions and the need to prioritise the city’s essential bin collections with reduced staff numbers.
