The Council has taken delivery of 34,000 face masks from the Devon and Cornwall Chinese Association (DCCA).

The masks have been gifted to the Council, completely free of charge, so that they can be distributed to local organisations, voluntary groups and charities on the front line of the Coronavirus pandemic who may not have the funds for such a quantity of PPE.

Meet the Biker 19 Group, a hearty band of motorcyclists who came together from different clubs six weeks ago to help with the community response to Covid-19.

Led by Martin Hendy, and ably assisted by Paula Slade, the voluntary group is mainly made up of current and former service personnel from the army, navy and police with one thing in common: they all love bikes.

The Council will again offer interest-free loans for private applicants and low interest loans for companies renovating a previously empty property, which they plan to use as housing.

Every pound spent by the Council, should be reinvested back into the community.

That is the principle of a new Social Value Policy that dictates how and where the Council spends its money on products and services

We are making it easier for disabled people to make adaptations to their home.

We have updated our Independent Living Policy to ensure Disabled Facilities Grants, money given to the Council by the government, can be spent without so much red tape, allowing people to remain independent and in their homes for longer.
