There is a dedicated friends group who help to look after Plympton Pathfields for the future. Pathfields are steeped in history forming part of an ancient trackway which ran from Plympton Hill to the Ridgeway, adjacent to Plympton Castle built in the 1100s and the site of an important Royalist encampment during the siege of Plymouth in the English Civil War (1642 to 1646).
The site includes a variety of differnt habitats including wildflower areas, a woodland, hedgerows and extensive fields.
