There has been good progress with the scheme but due to a number of unavoidable issues timescales for completion have changed to the end of March 2023.
Most of the road widening / road construction works for the scheme have been finished and nearly all of the work we needed to do to divert utilities is now complete. We've also made good progress with the improved improved footways on Brest Road.
However, we have experienced delays due to issues common with civil construction projects. While many surveys were carried out before work started, once we started on site we found different ground conditions to what we had expected and designs to various parts of the scheme needed to be changed. We have also experienced supply issues, which are affecting the whole industry.
