Council leader Tudor Evans OBE said: “There were almost 7,000 enterprises in Plymouth last year. That’s a lot of people having a go at running a business in a very tough environment. I admire and really value what people are doing to help themselves, their families and their contribution to the economy of this city.

“We want to make it as easy as possible for them to get the support they need to make the best use of their skills, flair and time. We are particularly keen to encourage women to have a go – only 6.5 per cent of working women Plymouth are self employed compared to 8.7 per cent across the South West at 8.7 per cent.”
