COVID-19: Council services update

Bin collections and recycling centres

Refuse collections are continuing as usual and both Chelson Meadow and Weston Mill household recycling centres remain open during their normal opening hours.  Weston Mill is now open on Mondays and Fridays, as well as at weekends.

If anyone in your home is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, bags containing used tissues should be placed into another bag, tied securely and kept separate from other waste. This should be put aside for at least 72 hours before being put in your usual external household waste bin.

Parks, open spaces and play areas

All our parks, nature reserves and play parks remain open. If you visit a play area for exercising please use hand sanitiser before and after and think about how you long you stay, to give everyone a chance to use it safely. Please don't use play areas if you or your child aren’t feeling well.

Visit our Nature Plymouth Facebook page for more information.

Leisure centres

The gym and new changing rooms at Plymouth Life Centre are open. Visit the Life Centre website for the latest information.

Tinside Lido and Mount Wise Swimming Pools are open.

Libraries

You can browse the shelves and book PCs  at Central, Crownhill, Devonport, Efford and Plympton libraries, which are currently open only for ‘select and collect’ pick-ups and essential PC use.

Estover (which was closed during lockdown) is now open, along with Peverell, Southway and St Budeaux.

North Prospect (which has also been closed) and Plymstock are now also open.

As before, special measures and reduced opening hours will be in place at all libraries to ensure the safety of staff and customers, in line with national guidance.

Visit our library pages for more information.

The Box

The Box will reopen on 18 May.

Registration service

The register office remains open for birth registrations, death registrations (can be made over the phone), notice of marriage appointments and virtual citizenship ceremonies.

Licensing and Public Protection teams

We have a duty to ensure that businesses and venues are complying with the Government guidelines. Teams will continue to visit premises that are allowed to open to provide information and support on how to do this.
