We are committed to supporting residents, our community, and local businesses to transition to net zero. As part of our aim to become a ‘green city’ by 2030 we’ve created an Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Infrastructure Strategy to help tackle one of our biggest sources of carbon emissions and look towards greener options of travel.
We want to facilitate a smooth transition to electric and low carbon forms of transport by ensuring long term investment into the development and provision of public EV charging infrastructure. We want to make sure that is both commercially viable as well as spatially equitable, accessible, reliable, and affordable for people who live, work and visit our city Plymouth.
The Strategy
- assesses the current situation in Plymouth (electric vehicle charging demand and supply)
- explores current and emerging charging technologies
- explores drivers of and barriers to great electric vehicle use
- forecasts electric vehicle uptake and chargepoint requirements
- maps future demand for chargepoints across the city
- sets out six objectives with 29 actions the Council will deliver to achieve them
