The Integrated Degree Apprenticeship for Social Work is now offered by a number of Universities. This qualification route generally lasts three years and involves a mixture of on-the-job training and university study, resulting in a degree and the attainment of professional social worker status. Apprentices are usually paid a salary from day one of the programme, receiving at least the National Minimum Wage for the duration of their degree programme.

Although a number of our local university partners have developed a Social Work apprenticeship route, Plymouth City Childrens Services do not currently support this entry pathway into Social Work. Please keep an eye on our academy announcements page to see if this opportunity might occur here in Plymouth in the future.
