We publish information about the different communities in our city each year to meet our Public Sector Equality Duty.
We use this information to develop our equality impact assessments, identify different needs and inform our service delivery. Our Pen Profiles provide more information about different communities.
A 'pen profile' or 'pen portrait' is a concise, written description of a person or group, often used to understand their characteristics, needs, or preferences, and can be used in various contexts like marketing, education, or inquests.
The pen profiles are loosely grouped around the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s six domains of equality and human rights which are:
- education
- work
- living standards
- health
- justice and personal security
- participation
