Woodford Wood (CWS)

Woodford WoodWoodford Wood is located in the east of Plymouth adjacent to Plym Valley Woods on the outskirts of Plympton. The site covers 13.1 hectares and is privately owned and managed and isn't accessible to the public. The site contains a semi-natural broadleaved wood.

The site is designated as a County Wildlife Site because of the relatively undisturbed unit of ancient woodland carrying a semi-natural canopy. The site is recorded on the ancient woodland inventory, with 25 ancient woodland indicators species present including:

  • Sessile oak
  • Wood spurge
  • Great wood-rush
  • Wood melick
  • Wood millet
  • Wild cherry
  • Sanicle
