Access fund for sustainable travel

The Access Fund for Sustainable Travel was an invitation to local authorities to bid for funding to support the local economy by supporting access to new and existing employment, education and training while also actively promoting increased levels of physical activity through walking and cycling.

We are one of 25 councils across the country to be awarded a £1.5 million share of the £60 million Access Fund and this funding will allow us to improve sustainable travel and make it easier to access jobs, skills, education and training.

Our focus will be on workplaces, schools, and new developments in key growth areas of the city.

The bid will support the schemes that are being delivered through the Local Enterprise Partnership’s Growth Fund, such as the Derriford Transport Scheme, The Northern Corridor Strategic Cycle Network improvements, the Eastern Corridor and City Centre Strategic Cycle Network and the redevelopment of Plymouth's central railway station.
