You can use your library card to download a wide selection of eBooks and eAudiobooks. We have two platforms available; Libby App from Overdrive for eBooks and eAudiobooks and BorrowBox App for eAudiobooks.
eBooks and eAudiobooks with Libby
If you have a tablet or smartphone download the Libby App by OverDrive from the App Store or Play Store.
You can borrow up to eight titles at a time for a maximum of three weeks; titles can be borrowed again if nobody else is waiting for them. They'll automatically be returned to us at the end of the loan period so no fines can be incurred.
How to sign up
- you'll need your library card and PIN. If you're not a member, you'll need to join a library. If you need a PIN you can email us.
- visit your App store and search for Libby and download the app to use with your tablet or smartphone.
- find Plymouth Library Services (UK) in the list of libraries
- enter your library card number and PIN when prompted
- select Library to start browsing and downloading eBooks and eAudiobooks.
You can read eBooks through your laptop or PC browser.

eAudiobooks with BorrowBox
The best and easiest way to enjoy eAudiobooks from BorrowBox is by using the BorrowBox App on your mobile phone or tablet.
Choose from over 800 eAudiobook titles. You can borrow up to eight titles at a time for a maximum of three weeks; titles can be borrowed again if nobody else is waiting for them. They'll automatically be returned to us at the end of the loan period so no fines can be incurred.
Language courses with BorrowBox
Language courses are available from the BorrowBox website and app. There are courses for English speakers learning a new language, and courses for those looking to learn and develop English as a second language. All are available digitally in eAudio format, so you can learn at home or on the go.
How to sign up
- you'll need your library card and PIN. If you're not a member, you'll need to join a library. If you need a PIN you can email us.
- visit your App store and search for BorrowBox and download the app to use with your mobile phone or tablet.
- enter Plymouth Libraries when prompted
- enter your library card number (use capital letters FFF) where it states ID followed by your PIN
- agree to the terms and conditions (if you are under 18 you will be required to review the terms and conditions with your parent or guardian)
- start browsing and downloading eAudiobooks.
