Food hygiene rating scheme

We check how well your food business is meeting standards by looking at:

  • how hygienically the food is handled
  • the condition of the premises
  • how food safety is managed

Each business is given a hygiene rating from '0' to '5'. '0' means that urgent improvement is necessary, '5' means very good.

Request a revisit, appeal or right to reply

You can request for your business to be revisited and have the score reassessed or appeal against a rating if you think it's incorrect or unfair. You can also submit a right to reply to appear with your rating.

More information about the food hygiene rating scheme and how it works is available on the Foods Standards Agency website.
