Make a claim

Before you make a claim consider the likelihood of your claim being successful. To make a claim against us you must prove your allegations of negligence and loss.

It can take up to 90 days from the start of an investigation before a decision is made. You should consider contacting your insurance company if you have suffered a loss. Your insurance company may take the matter up with us if they believe there is a case to answer.

If you proceed with your claim we will carry out a full investigation. Any decision will be made in respect of legal liability and relevant law. This will happen regardless of the value of your claim.

Investigations take a substantial amount of staff resources away from delivering other services. Any successful claims under £300,000 are paid from our own funds which would normally go towards other services.
