Bus stop changes from 8 July 2019

On Monday 8 July there will be changes to bus stops on Charles Street and on the north side of Exeter Street Viaduct to allow further works connected with the construction of the new cinema complex at Bretonside to be undertaken.  This work will mean that all traffic is banned from the north side of the viaduct and will affect stops B1, B2 and B3 on the Viaduct along with stops C2 and C3 on Charles Street.

The works will mean that bus services will need to be diverted with calls made at alternative bus stops as explained below for a period of ten weeks.

Maps are provided for each bus stop affected to show where alternative stops are located and the route diverted buses will follow.

Viaduct Stop B1

Additional temporary bus stops will be located at the rear of the Royal Bank of Scotland on Bretonside and on Exeter Street near to Jurys Inn.

Buses will be diverted via Kinterbury Street, Bretonside, Exeter Street and Charles Cross with the nearest bus stops being:

Park & Ride service 100/101 - Royal Parade Stop A21, the temporary stop near to Jurys Inn on Exeter Street or the top of Coburg Street

Park & Ride 200 - Royal Parade Stop A14 or the rear of the Royal Bank of Scotland

Viaduct Stop B2

An additional temporary bus stop will be located at the rear of the Royal Bank of Scotland on Bretonside.

Buses will be diverted via Kinterbury Street, Bretonside to Exeter Street with the nearest bus stops being:

Services 2/2A, 3, 17, 18, 54, 91, 94 and 875 - Royal Parade Stop A11 or rear of the Royal Bank of Scotland

Services 5/5A, 48 and 49 - Royal Parade Stop A10 or rear of the Royal Bank of Scotland

Board the beach bus to Bovisand

Beach lovers can take a bus from Plymouth straight to the seaside again this summer.

From Saturday 25 May families will be able to hop on board the number 54 to the popular beach of Bovisand, which overlooks Plymouth Sound.

The ‘beach bus’ will be operated by Target Travel and run until Sunday 1 September – daily during the half term and summer school holidays and at weekends only during school term time.

It will depart from the A11 stop on Royal Parade every hour from 10am until 6pm (except 2pm), returning from Bovisand hourly from 10.30am until 6.30pm (except 1.30pm).

The service, which is financially supported by the Council, will enable families to enjoy a great day out over the summer at the beach or walks along the South West Coast Path.

Fares for the Bovisand service this year are as follows:

  • Royal Parade – Bovisand – adult £3.50 return, child £2.50 return
  • Plymstock Broadway – Bovisand – adult £3.00 return, child £2.00 return
  • Family Saver Ticket 1 – 1 adult and  2 children - £7.00
  • Family Saver Ticket 2 – 2 adults and up to 3 children - £11.00
