Better rail services
As part of the Peninsula Rail Task Force, we're campaigning for rail improvements in the South West.
The 20 year blueprint for rail investment can be found in the documents on the Peninsular Rail Task Force website.
Community rail
Local branch lines can be classified as community rail lines. These are promoted by community rail partnerships who work with the train operator to develop and grow the use of these lines.
We’re part of the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership which focuses on the two counties’ rail network, particularly the branch lines. One of these is the Tamar Valley Line, connecting Plymouth and Gunnislake and serving:
- Devonport
- Dockyard
- Keyham
- St Budeaux
- Victoria Road
- Bere Ferrers
- Bere Alston
- Calstock
Reduced price Carnet tickets for Tamar Valley Line commuters along with other ticket and timetable information is given on the Great Scenic Railways website.
Customer and Communities improvement fund (CCIF year 4)
Plymouth City Council was awarded £10,000 from CCIF 2019/2020. The aim of the CCIF year 4 in Plymouth project, was to raise the awareness of the following stations:
- Devonport
- Dockyard
- Keyham
- St Budeaux Ferry Road and Victoria Road
Signage has been installed indicating the direction to each station from key points:
- in the local area
- near areas of employment
Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership worked with us to help deliver the project. Leaflets were produced to go with the new signage. They show the location and range of destinations that can be reached from each station.
