Under 2s Care and Learning resources

With the government’s expansion of free childcare places for under 2s, the Early Years Service can offer advice and support on how to meet the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework, as well as safeguarding and child protection for this age group.

The Plymouth Early Years team has developed two tools to support Early Years providers to evaluate their provision for 0 -2-year-olds.

Early Years Infant Care Review

The Early Years Infant Care Review is a non-statutory monitoring tool. The tool helps Early Years providers self-evaluate their infant practice and ensures your setting meets statutory requirements and keeps children safe as well as inspiring best practice.

Once completed it will support settings with their individual audit of policies and procedures and will establish whether their practice is meeting the EYFS Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements and other legal duties that are separate from those listed in the EYFS.

Early Years (0 to 2) learning and development audit

The Early Years (0 to 2) learning and development audit helps providers self-evaluate their provision for the 0- to 2-year-old age range, consider evidence of good practice in supporting learning and development and identify development actions.

Both forms can be saved at any point and returned to at a later date. Providers will receive a PDF copy of their responses once completed.
