Groundwater flooding
Groundwater flooding occurs when water rises up from underlying rocks or from water flowing from springs, typically after long periods of rain. It is the responsibility of individual householders to prevent groundwater from entering their property. For further information, see:
- Environment Agency guidance about flooding from groundwater
- Plymouth’s Local Flood Risk Management Strategy (Part 1 and 2)
Private drains
Floods caused by private drains are the responsibility of the property owner.
If your property has flooded
If you have had the unfortunate experience of your property flooding, we ask that you report this to us.
By providing flooding information you can help us to understand flood risk issues in Plymouth. First-hand reports are great for helping us to work on reducing future flood risk and also for securing government funding for flood prevention measures.
Please do not use the form in an emergency situation. It will only be used to collect flood data to support future works to reduce flood risk. The Emergency Services will not be informed.
