Why are bedbugs a pest?

Bedbugs are small, crawling parasitic insects. They feed on warm blooded animals, which can result in painful bites. It is possible for bedbugs to transmit disease, bedbug bites do not hurt but can cause irritation and possible infection from constant scratching. Treating the bites can sooth the irritation. Multiple bites can also lead to an itchy rash or eczema.

Where are they found?

Bedbugs are becoming an increasing problem in this country and their rise may be related to an increase in international travel.

They stay close to a food source, so are found in areas where people tend to rest and sleep. They are often found around soft furnishings such as beds and sofas, but also in crevices in walls and flooring.
