Asbestos

Coronavirus (COVID-19): Information about recycling centres

Due to the risk involved in handling asbestos we recommend that you use a licensed asbestos removal service, although you can take small amounts of bonded asbestos to Chelson Meadow. Please don't take it to any other recycling centre in Plymouth or put it out with your rubbish.

Bonded asbestos is not classified as household waste and we will only allow 3 x 25kg bags (or equivalent) and only on one occasion. You need to book 24 hours in advance before taking asbestos to Chelson Meadow yourself.

Please use the following form to submit your Asbestos request, a member of the team will get back to you within two working days to confirm appointment for a site visit.

Do not break, drill, scrub or saw the asbestos and double-wrap it in strong bags or plastic sheeting and seal using gaffer or duct tape before transporting.

When you arrive at Chelson Meadow please tell staff that you have asbestos so you can be directed to the hazardous waste area and complete a form so we know where the asbestos came from.
