What are we doing?
We want more people to go by bus to and from the city centre so we are improving facilities on Royal Parade.
- changes to the bus stop layouts to improve bus movements
- new bus shelters, positioned in new bus stop layout
- removing unnecessary signage
- improvements to surfacing
Why are we doing this?
We all need to change our travelling habits if we are to tackle climate change.
We are trying to make is easier and more attractive for people to travel by bus, by bike or to walk.

Who is paying?
The project is expected to cost £2.677m. The Department for Transport’s Transforming Cities Fund (TCF) and Historic England High Street Heritage Action Zone is contributing £1.972m. To make up the rest of the figure we are contributing from our own capital improvement programme.
