When a building is listed, the entire building is protected, both inside and out. This includes fixtures and fittings and land immediately surrounding the building.

Buildings at risk
Historic England hold a register of designated sites and buildings at risk in the South West region which includes a region-by-region list of all the Grade I and II* listed buildings, structural scheduled monuments, registered battlefields, archaeological sites, registered parks and gardens, conservation areas and protected wreck sites in England known to be 'at risk'.
