Skills development

Our Health, Safety and Wellbeing skills development programme is designed to support your understanding of a broad range of HSW issues, and ensure that you and your colleagues go home safe and unharmed by your work activities.

The document below gives details and dates for the current courses.

The Team also deliver other bespoke courses, toolbox talks and full training on site if this is needed.

Please note there is a charge for school staff to attend training.

HSW Induction

All new staff must complete a HSW induction checklist within one week of starting:

IOSH - Institute for Occupational Safety and Health

IOSH is a Chartered body for health and safety specialists, providing training, membership and resources for those who have an interest in health and safety.

They are the voice of health and safety, campaigning with members on a variety of issues affecting employees.

This course has an elearning modular approach to learning and one half day project support, covering assessing and controlling of risks. Understanding your responsibilities, identifying hazards, investigating accidents and incidents, measuring the performance whilst also protecting our environment.

We are no longer running three days courses, we now provide an elearning course that you can complete at your own pace, within a set time scale.

It can be used on any device and allows learners to study at their own pace, working remotely or from other work locations. An activation email is sent to the learner with full instructions once the HSW Team have booked a place for a manager.

This course is with a “Pass Promise”. International Workplace will continue to support learners until they pass.

On successful completion of the course and examination, you will be able to download a certificate of attendance as evidence, pending receipt of the official IOSH Certificate, which can take up to 12 weeks.

Which course is right for me?

IOSH Managing Safely

This is aimed at third and fourth tier managers to ensure that safety requirements are appreciated by people employed as line managers and to enable them to review their own departmental systems for safety, introducing new controls or implementing changes as appropriate to ensure safety in the workplace. 

IOSH Managing safely for Directors and Executives 

This is aimed at Head teachers and governers to ensure that safety requirements are appreciated by people employed as line managers and to enable them to review their own departmental systems for safety, introducing new controls or implementing changes as appropriate to ensure safety in the workplace. 

IOSH Managing Safely refresher 

This is for managers who have completed the course and required a refresher to keep their certificate in date.
